Baby Movements During Pregnancy

The thought of pregnancy may bring a lot of tension and stress in a woman’s life, but the picture of cute little infant safe in the mother’s tummy vanishes all worries. The first movement which a baby makes inside the tummy is a marker of pregnancy and there is no better feeling for a mother in her life than this.

Baby’s first movements
The sensations of the movement of that tiny creature are a landmark of pregnancy. When the kicks become vigorous the mother can feel that her child all well. You may not feel these sensations at first if this is your 1st pregnancy as you may not be familiar.

Why does baby move?
As the baby is growing he/she will try to flex and stretch the limbs and further along in pregnancy you will notice the kicks, punches and the rolling. Your baby may move when he/she responds to the noises.

How often should there be movements?
Although there is no exact answer to this question but still the baby will never move continuously. In the earliest stages the movements are so intermittent that you may not recognize them. And sometimes it is only when the baby becomes mature that you may feel the movements.

What happens during the prenatal visits?
Your doctor will ask for your medical history and will weigh you and will check your blood pressure on every visit. On the first visit you may have pelvic exam to check the size and shape of the womb and check for infection. You will have to get test done of your urine and blood. Generally it takes 16 to 24 weeks before you 1st feel the movements.

Fetal Movements during Pregnancy
The feeling of the baby’s kicks, hiccups, wriggle and twist is the biggest thrill while in pregnancy. You will have a very good feeling that a new life is developing inside your body.

Keep track of the movements

Once you start feeling the movements of the baby keep a track of them and tell your doctor if you feel a decline in the movements. You may keep a track of the movements by using a kick chart. It’s a graph on paper to keep a record of the kicks and is useful as it can be used by the women who may worry about their baby’s movements.

While the weeks elapse you will have a tendency that your baby has more activity with an increase in its movements. From 20 to 24 weeks you will a tendency to become more active with more active baby. After the advent of 10 weeks thereafter the baby will become very busy amidst lots of kicking and tumbling activities. After 24 to 28 weeks hiccups could also become another activity done by a little child and you may never feel the movements of jerks. At this juncture, the amniotic sac contains a lot of fluid which allows free movements of the baby. Sudden emergence of sounds should also be noted during the course of this phase. After about 32 weeks baby’s active movements as well as hereafter you will be observing heightened movements basing the fact that the baby is getting more big and stronger.
